The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology has designated a new subspecialty that deals with problems many women face. Pelvic organ prolapse, as well as urinary and fecal incontinence, has been attributed to the trauma associated with vaginal birth. Dr. Cappiello has been performing minimally invasive Laparoscopic Gynecological Surgery since 1983. He is a pioneer in the Tampa Bay area. He has introduced innovative laparoscopic surgery such as laparoscopic hysterectomy, removal of ovaries and tubes, removal of pelvic masses such as cysts and fibroids as well as repair of organ prolapse.

Our office is equipped to provide all of the needed state of the art preoperative investigations such as:

• Cystoscopy - Placement in the bladder a scope to be sure that the bladder is free of any medical problems such as cancer, stones, sutures, polyps etc
• Urodynamic studies - these essential studies are also performed in our office and they are used to completely investigate the reasons for urinary incontinence.
• Anal Manometry - Complete evaluationof the rectum before repair surgery for fecal loss.
• Abdominal-Pelvic-Rectal Ultrasound - our office is also equipped with state-of-the-art ultrasounds for the abdomen and pelvic area and the essential tools in making the correct diagnosis.
• Hysteroscopy & Endometrial biopsy - This is a relatively painless way of evaluating the uterus and to rule out any cancers prior to proceeding with any surgery.
