Tumescent Liposuction and Liposculpture

The use of Tumescent local anesthesia is the safest way to perform liposuction.  Dr. Gerard Cappiello uses Tumescent anesthesia for all of his cosmetic surgery procedures.
Local anesthesia is far safer than general anesthesia. General anesthesia carries the risk, although rare, of fatality. There has never been a recorded case of fatality due to Tumescent anesthesia. The epinephrine in the solution causes capillaries to shrink, also significantly reducing the risk of blood loss.

Tumescent anesthesia works when it is injected into the fat that is going to be removed. This causes the area to become swollen and firm. As a result, a compartment is formed which allows the liposuction tube to easily slide beneath the skin where fat needs to be eliminated.

Tumescent Liposuction can be used on any part of the body that requires fat removal but it is typically used on areas that require a more precise technique including:

• Face
• Neck
• Arms
• Calves
• Ankles

Liposuction Post Op

Although patients are instructed to take it easy for the first few days after Tumescent Liposuction, it greatly reduces pain, discomfort and recovery time compared to traditional lipo. Strenuous activity can be resumed within a few weeks. Bruising and swelling are also lessened with this type of procedure.

The New You

Results of your surgery will be immediately evident but full results will be seen after the swelling has completely subsided. Three weeks after surgery, swelling should be mild enough to get a good picture of what the new you looks like now. Some mild swelling may hang on for up to three months before completely disappearing. At this point, you can maintain your new look by following a healthy diet and an exercise routine.
